Reaching out to a Community of Support

Welcome to David’s Carelines page! Thank you for coming to support David in his journey of recovery. Here you can:

The initial chemo protocol wasn‘t completely effective and a PET scan shows the tumors started back. Some of the tumors pinched nerves that caused severe pain moving my right leg and left leg to be numb from butt to foot sole. Made getting around difficult to say the least. Left leg would work for me just fine, as long as I watched it. Now I know why my mom was always yelling “David, watch where your walking.” Foot didn’t know if it was firmly on a step or landed on uneven ground, down I’d go. my oncologist put me on a different chemo protocol to knock down the lymphoma as best it could while he worked on a referral to the Mayo Clinic for a Bone Marrow Transplant. The prospect of being a BMT candidate lifted my spirits greatly, and after my first day in the chair for this different protocol my right leg pain was completely resolved. But left leg remains numb. Fastforward to today, I am half way through the BMT, spent a couple weeks with pre-testing, labs and evaluations to make sure I'm a good candidate for a BMT, then a week in Mayo Clinic Hospital for some heavy chemo to clear out my system. Aug 14th was my Day 0, I received my harvested HCT back and the re-grafting process began. A couple weeks in hospital where they kelp a close eye on my labs and progress and I was finally stable enough to head home to finish my recooperation. Had an outpatient appointment earlier this week and my blood counts are coming up as expected. Hopefully in a week or 2 I'll be able to venture out of the house and return to work. ANd none too soon, savings are depleated and I'm out on medical leave without pay, used up all my sick time previously.   Thanks for listening.
