LINKING PEOPLE TO SUPPORT
In addition to providing financial assistance and education about stem cell/bone marrow transplantation, we believe that personal one-on-one conversation in non-medical terms, whether it’s between patients, families or caregivers, is a very important part of the treatment process.
SupportLine is a free service designed to link patients who may be considering or actually undergoing bone marrrow/stem cell transplantation and/or their family members and caregivers with post-transplant patients and their family members and caregivers. The goal is to provide direct telephone or on-line support and encouragement during the transplant experience from the unique perspective of someone who has experienced it.

“Going through a transplant was so difficult. It was so great to be able to talk to someone who had been there. The Bone Marrow Foundation found a mentor that I could really relate to and who had suffered from the same disease. It was so helpful for me and for my family.”

We invite you to join SupportLine — either as a Mentor (a post-transplant patient and/or a family member or caregiver willing to volunteer your time to help other patients, their family members or caregivers.) or as a Seeker (someone with questions they would like to ask of another patient or family member or caregiver). The Bone Marrow Foundation provides a brief training for Mentors, which can be done over the phone with a Foundation social worker. When you sign up for SupportLine, you can tell us whether you are interested in becoming a Seeker or a Mentor. We hope that those who have been helped through Supportline will consider joining as a Mentor after their transplant experience.
To sign up for SupportLine, just complete the form below. Information from this form will assist us in arranging the best seeker/mentor match.
If you do not have access to an email address, please contact The Bone Marrow Foundation by phone at 1-800-365-1336, and we will sign you up – whether you are looking for a mentor/counselor, or with to become one.
